POST-SESSION AFTERCARE Information & Resources:
Energywork manifests in a downward causation, meaning that all healing work done in the energy body will trickle down into the mental, emotional, and physical bodies. The amount of time that takes is dependent upon many factors, such as the person’s constitution, how deeply rooted the issue is, how ready to heal and let go the person is, and many other potential factors. Due to this, the experience of healing through this process is unique for each individual but there are certain commonalities you should know about so that you are able to best support yourself post-session.
Imbalances are created from the outside inward, manifesting as symptoms, issues, imbalances, and miscommunication within the bodymind which pattern our neural pathways. These neural pathways affect our health, thoughts, feelings, reactions/responses, behavior, perception, comfort and outcomes.
Balance/healing is created from the inside out. That means your body releases emotional energy blocks to restore optimal flow and communication that allows your innate healing mechanisms to function optimally…and emotional energy (aka, emotions) is processed through the physical body’s waste eliminating systems, the same as it eliminates excess waste from what we ingest and what our human bodies naturally produce. That is what releasing or “letting it go” actually means, it means LITERALLY processing emotions through your body’s waste eliminating systems to the point of neutrality.
This ‘processing’ is one part of energy healing and it can take days to complete. ‘Integrating’ the clear, transmuted energy pathways into the physical body and nervous system is another part of the energy healing process, which can continue for up to 30 days post-session.
[What experiences are normal? Is energy healing safe?]
What and when you notice results is unique to each person and what comes up in their session. Most of my clients feel relaxed during and immediately after a session. Whatever you experience, it is likely normal for you. Energy Healing My clients have reported pain reduction, pain being completely eliminated, improved sleep, clearer thinking – just to name a few – these results vary from immediately to several days to a week later depending on the symptom and how deeply rooted the cause of the symptom is.
Some people feel AH-mazing, energized, or lighter than air post-session. Others don’t notice a huge, obvious change or perhaps feel no different post-session. Others report experiencing physical symptoms of healing post session.
If you do experience any side-effects in the days following your session, know that it is temporary. Emotions are not YOU, they are energies rising into your awareness to be addressed. The same goes for many of the mild physical sensations/symptoms we experience, they are the body’s way of communicating something is out of balance and needs attention. If you experience emotions, detox symptoms, or physical sensations [that are not life-threatening or emergency level symptoms] in the days following your session, try meeting it with curiosity and simple action as defined in the subsequent post-session action video. Energy healing is safe and non-invasive and does not directly influence the physical body, so if you have serious or life-threatening issues post-session, please seek immediate medical attention as energy healing is not the cause.
Energy healing can do no harm. Michelle incorporates safety precautions, including trauma-informed practices, asking for permission, setting aside all agendas, and establishing clear boundaries for safe healing in your highest and best outcome only. Your body’s innate wisdom knows exactly what you need and will not allow the practitioner to treat them for a condition unless it is perfectly safe to do so. Therefore, this type of healing system is totally safe and non-invasive. Energy healing is not a substitute for conventional medical care, and there may be times when consultation with a physician is required. In emergencies, where the body is in crisis, the natural healing process may be too slow, and skilled medical intervention will be necessary.

TAKING SELF-ACTION POST SESSION: it is your choice to take action or not, but it is the nature of this work that it is longer lasting and more effective if you take an active role in the healing process.
Taking some simple action for a few days post-session, in the moments of discomfort/sensation, or as an ongoing daily practice serve as a form of communication that supports your natural healing/balancing mechanisms. It communicates that it is safe to process emotional energy for release, it communicates that you are choosing and asking for this shift that is underway in your energy and that you WANT MORE HEALING to continue…and in doing so, you are supporting and facilitating your body’s healing functions.
We’re taught that our human bodies just do certain things automatically, that we aren’t able to control or influence these automatic processes…but these processes are influenced into DYSfunction by our environment, emotions, and experiences – therefore they can also be influenced into FUNCTION…
Sometimes our bodies need our help in doing the things we don’t normally have to think about, such as healing, restoring balance, and elimination/release. I promise this is WAY more simple than it may sound…and it doesn’t require much time, either.
There are many reasons our bodies may need assistance, but most commonly it is because a pattern of survival, coping, or defense/offense is operating subconsciously which creates a physiological/biochemical pattern of function/operation within the autonomic nervous system that regulates all the body systems you never thought much about before now…
There can also be a subconscious level of emotional resistance…either way, the patterning is affecting your outcomes on all levels….physical, mental, emotional, relationship, and life outcomes.
Taking simple action to help your body process and release what has been stirred up from your session or what rises up after your session in the form of emotions or physical sensations helps your body continue healing/processing to the deepest level possible, helps you maintain the results longer, and influences your level of comfort.
Simple action can look like this:
- Gentle tapping and calm/deep breathing until you feel better, more relaxed, and/or have your symptoms/sensations/emotions subside or be eliminated altogether (see video for guidance through this simple technique)
- Staying well-hydrated
- Resting when you can
- Avoiding activities that are not part of your normal repertoire (if you are a regular runner, go ahead and run…but if you aren’t already a runner, perhaps hold off on taking up running until you give yourself time to process your session)
There are additional forms of self-care that activates and supports your natural healing and balancing mechanisms, as well. Simple, practical, focused self-care that can be used as daily practice in just minutes per day, or as fast-aid in those moments of physical or emotional discomfort.
