I have been showing up live for anyone/everyone willing to attend a guided meditation on Facebook for 24 days (non-consecutive due to a two day power outage). There is no fee for this meditation event, all are welcome… This guided meditation is a little different than many others out there, it is focused on communicating safety and calm to your nervous system and aligning your emotions, thoughts, and physiology in a way that activates your nervous system to switch from fight/flight (stress/survival) to rest/digest (relax/restore/calm). It also facilitates processing and recovering from any emotions, past-present-future oriented, that may be rising up or being triggered by these uncertain, unprecedented times…and possibly even exacerbated by isolation. If you are okay, that is okay…and if you are NOT okay, that is okay too. You are not in this alone, everyone is facing this globally to some degree – which means we are all facing a storm, yet each of us are facing a unique version of the storm specific to our circumstances (wellness, job/finances, family/community/connection, etc), as well as our past experiences, lens of perspective, and coping mechanisms/tools to cope with and/or process emotions.
All this affects our WHOLE self, all levels of body – physical, mental, emotional, energetic/soul/spirit, and empath bodies to be specific. Not everyone needs help, some are and will continue to navigate their vessel through their storm; but for those who need a little ‘extra’ support, calming/soothing, and/or connection…well, that is why I am doing these live guided meditations. I’m doing them for you, if this describes or resonates with you.
This guided meditation will create a sense of calm and help process emotions, reduce anxiety, sleep better. Whatever emotions are coming up, if you are okay or not okay, if you are keeping busy or sleeping/tired often…it is okay, this is your way of processing intense uncertainty and riding the ups/downs of grief, fear, vulnerability, uncertainty, worry, and whatever other emotional tides are ebbing and flowing. We’re all facing our own individual storm within this global storm…and this meditation is a way for you to show up for yourself without having to process anything ‘extra’, because I will walk you through it. This isn’t a typical guided meditation, it is one that will help your brain, body, and emotions align in order to shift your nervous system into relaxation response/healing mode…a state that enables your body to function at its most optimal level.
Some of the feedback I’ve received about the outcome of this meditation include:
- sleeping better (yay, sleep!)
- processing old wounds/trauma (much of which is safety related… that they were aware of and some they were not aware of)
- feel more relaxed and less stressed overall feel calm
- relieved felt their breathing get easier, deeper
- feel shoulders drop and/or mid-back tension release
- feel like kidney/adrenal glands relaxed
- feel lighter, centered, more focused, less pulled in all directions
- less stress, more acceptance of what is
- connection to ease the isolation
- jaw and neck tension release
Our body and brain need our help to communicate better during this stressful time, so that our immune systems can function most optimally…This is a great way to mitigate stress and stressful emotions we are facing during this pandemic and subsequent isolation such as fear, worry, anxiety, vulnerability, uncertainty, and more…your body needs your help to keep you healthy more than ever. 💥Let’s do this – we are in this together….and I am live on m y Facebook page for you every day at 8:30 pm EST until further notice. Replays are always available in the ‘video’ tab of the sidebar menu of Facebook, so you can access them at your convenience.
When our human bodies are under ongoing stress, they operate in a way that takes attention away from the function of certain body systems like digestive, immune, and respiratory to name a few. Stress in and of itself isn’t always dangerous, nor does it always make you unwell. When it continues as long as this stressful situation, it can have an effect on your physiology and can create symptoms…both stress-related symptoms like tension, sleep disruption, tightness of the chest, shallow breathing or holding your breath sometimes without realizing it, among other stress-related symptoms, AND physical symptoms like indigestion, reflux, diarrhea, constipation, fatigue/low-energy, rapid heart-rate, insomnia, headaches, and more. It can suppress our immune systems, so they don’t work as well as they are normally able to sans ongoing stress.
Another thing ongoing stress can cause is making things out of focus, foggy-brained, or having difficulty processing things like information, emotions, and sensory input. It can cause overwhelm, which adds to the stress by making you feel like there is something wrong, when in fact, this is a normal aspect of stress. It is just that you may not be familiar or adept at operating in stress mode…though some of us are, I for one am all too familiar with it, as I spent nearly 30 years operating in fight/flight mode much of the time…when this happens over really long periods, our nervous system can learn this pattern of operation, making it difficult to switch back and forth between stress/fight or flight and relax/rest & digest mode the way it is intended to. Don’t worry, though, the body can RELEARN it’s normal, optimal stress threshold over time…we can communication our needs to it through a simple action, which I am more than happy to teach you (stay tuned for a live class on this technique coming soon, it takes about 1-5 minutes to reset your stress threshold and it can help you feel better in those moments of big stress/anxiety/intense emotions).
One more thing about stress…it doesn’t always look like we think. It can stem from your internal/external environment, such as (INTERNAL EXAMPLES) something you ingest (food, emotions, etc) can cause stress – or (EXTERNAL EXAMPLES) time crunches/deadlines, being late, work or family, performance, etc can trigger a stress response. Stress can also be emotional/mental stress OR physical stress, or both…And stress can be beneficial OR detrimental, depending on the individual and their circumstances/perspective/physiology…beneficial stress can be a catalyst to get a task complete, to do your best work, or create a new outcome you desire; whereas detrimental stress is when you cannot process and recover from it to the point that your nervous system/primal brain operates in survival/stress physiology much/all of the time, which can cause mental, emotional, and physical symptoms…even leading to illness. I will be releasing an All About Stress PDF asap so you can identify IF you are stressed and WHAT is the cause/trigger for your stress, which will help you determine how well you are processing stress so you know if you need to facilitate your body’s ability to do so in order to optimize your overall well-being and feel better, more in control of YOU, especially while you navigate these stormy waters of the pandemic…but also beyond that when things return to more social, stable times.
I offer free consultations and I encourage you to utilize them if you need help identifying your needs, emotions, and stressors (or resources/simple actions) so you can feel better, trust and accept things/feelings with greater ease, and/or tend to your needs without struggle, second-guessing, or going it alone. Not everyone needs help, but it you do…it is available. These calls are NOT to sell you something, they are to offer resources, advice, inspiration, and support/connection in response to your individual needs. They are guidance and suggestions, or simply being seen/heard…
If you don’t require a one-to-one call, you are welcome to join me live for the guided meditations daily until further notice…there is connection and support available there, as well. The link to join takes you to the event page, but the live videos take place both on my FB page and in the private Womxn’s Healing Collective group.
If you already know you need/want a private session, those are available too…by donation/pay what you want in light of the widespread financial hardship, which you can access on the homepage of www.MichelleClinard.com.
